Vanilla Chai (Organic) | 24 Days of Tea: Day 2

Vanilla Chai - 24 Days of Tea Day 2There’s no better way to warm up a chilly winter day than a hot cup of chai. The combo of rich black tea and exotic spice is like a cup of pure comfort. And this spicy black tea blend turns up the heat even more with a sweet and creamy hint of vanilla. It’s as cozy as a teddy bear wearing a scarf. In front of a roaring fire. While cuddling with a puppy. Try it with milk and sugar for a warming treat that’ll have you wishing for snow.

- David’s Tea

featured ingredients
cinnamon & vanilla
steeped at
1.25 tsp @ 96°C for 4 minutes

This rick black tea has a strong aroma of cinnamon and vanilla with hints of mulled apples and licorice.

Featuring strong spice notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger, this black tea includes notes of licorice and a backbone of molasses and nuts. While I usually don’t use milk or sugar in my tea, I could see how this one may be improved by adding a bit of milk to add to the natural creaminess. Sugar seems unnecessary in this brew as it is already pretty sweet from the vanilla and licorice notes. Steeping for 4 minutes was quite sufficient for this tea and I would not recommend letting it sit much longer than that.

  1. Did you like today’s tea? I usually put agave in but since I’m at work I used sugar and put in too much. It was too much sweet mixed with the spiciness so it was a little off-putting.

  2. I thought it was nice but not my favourite flavoured black tea. I could definitely see how agave would work better than sugar for this one, its pretty spicy.
