Bubbie’s Baklava | 24 Days of Tea: Day 10

Bubbies Baklava - 24 Days of Tea Day 10Just about every grandma has a secret recipe for special occasions. For David’s Bubbie, it’s baklava – studded with walnuts, almonds and pistachios and scented with honey and rose. And no family get-together is complete without it. This honey-scented oolong is an homage to that deliciously nutty treat. With candied fruit, nuts and spices, it’s rich enough to make any occasion feel special.

aroma:

This highly aromatic tea features a great spice character with strong hints of walnuts and pistachio. A touch of rum and mulled apples is complimented by light, sweet, creamy notes and there are also hints of honey and floral.

flavour:

Less intense in flavour than aroma, this is another tea I would stick to the higher end of the steeping instructions for. It made a very nice eggnog latte in store so I assume it does get a fair bit stronger if left longer. Despite the weaker-than-expected flavour, it is pretty nice with definite walnut and pistachio notes and a great spice profile strong on cinnamon. A touch of honey and creamy sweetness bring out flavours of mulled apples and rum.
